Welcome to Purple Lynnewood Snakes!

Meet Purple Lynnewood Snakes:

Our governor is Brittany, and our vice-governor is Joe.  They are responsible for leading our colony and making final decisions.  Our banker, who is in charge of all of our money is Julia.   Another important job is our recorder, Brandon.  This person must keep track of everything we do!  Our trader, Alex, has good negotiating skills to deal with the natives and other colonies.  Lastly, our mapper is the one who keeps track of our land (how much it is worth, who is in the area).  This is Jen.  Together, we are Purple Lynnewood Snakes!

Why Did We Colonize:

Our group decided to go to the New World in order to colonize this new area and gain wealth and power.  We have been sponsored by a private company which has given us initial supplies and will send us a shipment mid-way through our adventure.  At the conclusion, we must pay the company one quarter of our wealth.

What We Stand For:

Our flag represents the Purple Lynnewood Snakes . We all love reptiles , and our favorite reptile is a snake.  We all love the color purple because it brightens our day. Lynnewood is the best school we have all gone to. That is why we put maroon, gray, and white.  Our group members are Brittany, Julia, Joe, Brandon, Alex, and Jen. The six suns represents our six group members. Now you know why our flag is called the Purple Lynnewood Snakes.

Our Ships' Names and Cargo:

Our first ship is named Purple and carries four men, four women, and three children.  We have one horse and ten farm animals on this ship.  It also has four guns for hunting and 100 units of food.  Our second ship is called Lynnewood and has four men, four women, and three children.  The other items are the same.  Our third and final ship is the Snake and has four men, four women, and three children. We have one horse, ten farm animals, four guns and 200 units of food.

Our Colonization Journal :

01/09/08 - Our ships are loaded. We are very excited to go, yet very nervous. We have a long journey yet to come.We hope we make it in one piece, and we are all safe. We have many adventures ahead of us. Wish us luck on everthing that awaits us.

1/22/08- Good winds and hard work got us 1200 miles on our journey! The food was terrible. There were worms in the food and water. Mostly everything else was salty and gross.

Thanks to good winds and hard work we traveled another 1200 miles in our second month. We are getting used to working on the ship like raising the sails and preparing the food. The journey is tougher than we expected.

In the third month the current calmed down and left us unable to move. We covered no miles. The fourth month left us with the same conditions and again we covered no miles. The calm was followed by fierce storms in the fifth month. The storms scattered the ships, and we spent a great deal of time trying to find the other ships. Because of this we made no progress.

The next month again we hit bad weather. Things like storms and high seas caused a lot of damage to the ships. It took some time to fix the ships, but we managed to go 100 miles this month. That's better than the last three months!

In our last month, we finally had fair weather and light winds. We traveled 700 miles! Since the journey took so long, the supplies are running out, and people are getting sick. Once we hit land, we will have all the food we need.

Today we hit land!

1/24/08- Our landing party had some difficulty finding a place to land. After a long time searching we found a place. Now we can begin our colony!!!!!! We are so excited and happy to start our new life, but we still have a long journey yet to come. We are near the Irrock Native Americans who are kind of nice but not extremly friendly.

1/25/08- Our winter has been longer than we expected, and our crops decreased 25% in farming. We are worried sick.  But we bring joyful  news  that makes  us  jump out of our  shoes.  We  traded  with the Indians, so we got more land. This is very good news.
