Welcome to the Starbursts!

Meet The Starbursts:

Our governor isTyler F., and our vice-governor is Jared L. They are responsible for leading our colony and making final decisions. Our banker, who is in charge of all of our money isMichael A. Another important job is our recorder, who is Haley A. This person must keep track of everything we do! Our trader, Emily S., has good negotiating skills to deal with the natives and other colonies. Lastly, our mapper is the one who keeps track of our land (how much it is worth, who is in the area). This is Nicky L. Together, we are Starbursts!

Why Did We Colonize:

Our group decided to go to the New World in order to colonize this new area and gain wealth and power. We have been sponsored by a private company which has given us initial supplies and will send us a shipment mid-way through our adventure. At the conclusion, we must pay the company one quarter of our wealth.

What We Stand For:

In our flag blue is for freedom, and red is for courage. Also on our flag is yellow for justice, white is for peace. There is black on our flag too because it represents strength. The yellow on our flag is a star because our name is the Starbursts. The red is lines coming out of the yellow star because we are the Starbursts, so the star is bursting. The white and black is for six stars that represents everyone in the group.

Our Ships' Names and Cargo:

Our first ship is named Niler and carries 3 men, 3 women, and 1 child. We have 3 horses and 6 farm animals on this ship. It also has 5 guns for hunting and 150 units of food. Our second ship is called Elay and has the same amount of people and cargo. Our third and final ship is the Ared and has the same, too.

Our Colonization Journal

09/26/07 - Yesterday we stayed up untill 12:00A.M. loading the ships. Loading the ships evenly was difficult, but we think we got it now. We started sailing today. We are all worried and scared. Will we make the never-ending voyage? Will we survive in The New World? All these questions buzz around our heads as we board the ships. As we push off the docks all of us wave vigorously to the family and friends we are leaving behind. Will we ever see them again? It i scary tothink the ancer to this question is no.

09/28/07 - We took off at approximately 7:00A.M. During the first week there were fair winds which allowed our ships to pick up 700 miles. There are 2800 miles left. The next week there were huge chunks of ice which it made it hard to travel. We only sailed 250 miles. Now there are 2350 miles left in are journey to the New World.

10/03/07 - The week after, an eastward current moved us along. We gained 1200 miles. There are 1150 miles left. The week after, the current did not stop. We gained another 1200 miles which means we landed at the new world. We sent 5 men in the new world, but they have not returned since. It has been a week. We are convinced they are dead.

10/08/07 - We landed this morning and unloaded the ships. No one knows what it's going to be like here. Will there be rough winters or harsh storms? These questions float around the air, but no one has the courage to ask them. About a week ago we sent 5 men out to scope out the land...they haven't returned. There is talk of them being dead. Dead. This word is why any of us would have the smallest doubt of coming to the New World. Where we landed there are Indians. We call them the Irrock tribe. They don't seem to mean us any harm, but they stare at us curiously. I hope things go well.

10/16/07 - We are not doing bad with a population of 16.  So far we had good weather for farming. We had a long growing season. Each farmer has accomplished the task of collecting 15 barrels of food.
